This study aims to analyze and monitor a central issue related to the performance of parliaments in African countries, highlighting the main challenges and stakes that confront this diverse and varied experience among African governments. The research utilized system and institutional analysis approaches to study the performance of the legislative authority in African countries, focusing on several key indicators and factors that are fundamental in evaluating legislative work and enhancing the presence and influence of the parliament compared to the work of the executive authority. The research reached several conclusions, the most important of which is that the African experience is still striving for maturity considering the historical stage it has traversed in this regard. Furthermore, the changing external environment has significant impacts on the hindrance of not only the parliament institution but also on the establishment of sound democratic governance principles
