المستخلص: The study aimed to determine the role of the social worker in government hospitals from the perspective of dealing with individual and collective cases and the local community, as well as to develop proposals to improve the role of the social worker as a general practitioner of social work in government hospitals. Social workers working at King Fahd Hospital and King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Jeddah Governorate, their number is (60) social workers, males and females. The response was received from (55) with a response rate of (83.3%) , and the data was analyzed through the spss program, and the study concluded that the most important roles of the social worker in government hospitals from the perspective of dealing with individual cases is psychological and social support to reduce anxiety and stress for the patient ; And that its most important role at the collective level is the participation of the medical team in patient meetings to discuss the social aspect; And that its most important role with the coordination of the local community is to help enable patients to access the services and resources available in the health institution.
