المستخلص: لم يحظ مفهوم الشجاعة بدراسة وافية تستجلى فيه الأفكار المركزية التي يقوم عليها والتعالقات التي تربطه بالمنظومة الأخلاقية مما دعانا إلى المساهمة في صياغة نظرية أخلاقية في توصيف هذا المفهوم وفقا لما قدمته نصوص الوحي (الكتاب والسنة) ونظر علماء الأخلاق عليهما، وقد ساهمنا في زحزحة بعض المظاهر السلوكية التي لا تجسد حقيقة الشجاعة، كربطها بالقوة الجسدية، أو الأقدام المطلق، وقد سعى هذا البحث إلى التعرف على القوى النفسية التي تولد مفهوم الشجاعة وكشف تعالقات هذا المفهوم مع بقية المفاهيم الأخلاقية في الفلسفة الإسلامية، وقد توسلنا بالمنهج الوصفي في أداته الوثائقية، وكان من نتائجه أن نظرية التعاهد التي فسرت بناء مفهوم الشجاعة في الإسلام وتعني: الثبات في حفظ الإيمان بين العبد وربه، وتقوم على ثلاثة أسس: أولها أن الشجاعة الباطنة هي محرك الشجاعة الظاهرة وهذا مقام الثبات، والثاني: قصد التقرب في الشجاعة يكون بالنية الأخلاقية وليس الحمية وذلك مقام الإخلاص، والثالث ضرورة التكامل بين عالمي الغيب والشهادة وهو مقام الإيمان، وثبوت وجود تعالقات متشابكة بين الشجاعة وأخلاق الصبر والكرم والحكمة وهي علاقة وجود وكمال، فالمسميات متباينة وحقيقة الخلق ثابتة، وذلك أن الشجاعة هي في حقيقتها تمظهر خارجي لقوة الصبر وسماحة النفس ومنطق الحكمة، ولوازم لوجودها.

The concept of courage lacks a comprehensive analysis that would elucidate its central ideas as well as its broader interconnections with the field of ethics. This study aims to contribute to the development of an ethical theory that describes the concept of courage based on the texts of Revelation (the Quran and Sunnah) and the respective scholarly takes on them by ethicists. The study also aims to dispel some misconceptions about behavioural manifestations that do not embody the true essence of courage, such as linking it to physical strength or reckless behaviour. Instead, it identifies the psychological forces that generate courage and explores its connections with other ethical values in Islamic philosophy. Using a descriptive methodology with documentary sources, the researcher introduces a new theory called the Covenantal Faith Theory, which analyses the concept of Divine covenants in Islam and the central role they play in fortifying faith in the midst of man’s pursuit for an everlasting relationship with God, and how these scripturally sanctioned covenants underlie the main building blocks of society’s moral infrastructure. The theory serves as an anchor for deconstructing the concept of courage in Islam, and is based on three foundational aspects: Firstly, inner courage is the driving force behind external courage, and this is identified as the "steadfastness" level. Secondly, seeking courage is motivated by ethical intentions rather than recklessness, and this is the level of "sincerity". Thirdly, the necessity to integrate the seen and unseen worlds, and this is the level of "faith". Moreover, the study highlights the interconnectedness between courage and other virtues, such as patience, generosity, and wisdom. This interconnectedness is one of mutual dependence and perfection. That is because the concepts vary, yet the reality of the moral ground that unites them is unmovable; for courage is, in essence, an external manifestation of the power of patience, the nobility of the soul, and the rationality of wisdom, all of which are concomitants of its existence.
