المستخلص: The article explores the role of non-profit organisations in the development of the film industry in Saudi Arabia through a case study of the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, known as Ithra. This research focuses on the timeframe between 2016 to the end of 2019. This article investigates the relationship between non-profit organisations and the commercial film industry and how the private sector aims to address the public interest in Saudi Arabia as it relates to the film industry. The article contains an analysis of Ithra's strategy and interventions with other government organisations to support the film industry's development, and it draws from a personal interview with the head of the cinema department at Ithra, Majed Samman. This article argues that Ithra has positioned itself as a dominant force in the industry, and that it promotes the government's image in the West and markets the country's culture to others.
