|a تتناول هذه الدراسة نبات الثوم في مصر خلال العصرين اليوناني والروماني، وتبدأ الدراسة بزراعته في مصر القديمة، وتركز بعد ذلك على محاولات تحسينه والتوسع في زراعته خلال عصر البطالمة، وأحوال زراعته في العصر الروماني. وتعرض الدراسة لأماكن زراعته، وأوقات زراعته وحصاده، وطرق نقله، واستخداماته، وأسعاره، وأنواعه، والضرائب المفروضة عليه، والرسوم الجمركية التي كانت تُجبى على حمولاته، وأجور العاملين في حقول الثوم، والأدوات التي كان يتم نقل الثوم بها، وبائعي الثوم، والقيمة الإيجارية للأراضي المزروعة ثوم، وتصديره إلى الإسكندرية.
|b This study deals with the garlic plant in Greco-Roman Egypt, beginning with its cultivation in ancient Egypt. The study concentrates, however, on attempts to improve it and expand its cultivation during the Ptolemaic era, the conditions of its cultivation in the Roman era. It studies the places of its cultivation, the times of cultivation and harvest, methods of transportation, its uses, prices, types, taxes imposed on it, and customs duties that were levied on it. And the wages of workers in the garlic fields, the tools with which the garlic was transported, the sellers of garlic, and the rental value of the lands planted with garlic and export it to Alexandria.
