المستخلص: يهدف هذا البحث إلى بيان مفهوم الاستشراق، وأهدافه، ودوافعه، كما يهدف إلى تعريف موجز بالمستشرق الألماني كارل بروكلمان، وحياته العلمية، وأهم مؤلفاته، وكذا التعريف المختصر بكتابه: تاريخ الشعوب الإسلامية»، وأبرز ملامح منهجه فيه، وأهم محتوياته، وعمل دراسة تحليلية نقدية لبعض آراء المستشرق كارل بروكلمان عن عصر الخلفاء الراشدين في كتابه: تاريخ الشعوب الإسلامية وذلك لأنها بحاجة ماسة للمراجعة، واتبعت في هذا البحث المنهج الاستقرائي التحليلي النقدي الوصفي؛ وذلك بتتبع الأدلة التي تستند إلى الاستقراء بالرجوع إلى الكتب، واستخراج المسائل، وتحليلها والنظر فيها بما يوصل لنقد موضوعي يخدم فكرة هذا البحث، وموضوعه. وتوصل الباحث من خلال هذا البحث إلى أن إن بعض الروايات التي جاء بها بروكلمان، واعتمد عليها ضعيفة وواهية، وهي لا تصمد أمام النقد التاريخي، ومنهج البحث العلمي، وردت في كثير من فصول كتاب بروكلمان تحيزات فاضحة وواضحة ضد العرب والمسلمين تدل على النفس الاستشراقي، والتعصب الديني، وبصيغ مختلفة، مثل: الوحشية، والبربرية، وحب المال، وغيرها. وكان من أبرز التوصيات إقامة مراكز بحثية متخصصة للرد على شبهات المستشرقين قديما وحديثا، وتصحيح الأفكار، وتحصين الأفهام.

The present research paper aims at defining orientalism, its objectives, and motivations as well as giving a synopsis about the German Orientalist, Carl Brockelmann, his scientific career and his major writings, particularly his book "History of the Islamic Peoples". The paper also highlights the most important constituents of Brockelmann's book and the most prominent features of his approach as applied in this book. In addition, the research paper introduces an analytical, critical study on some of Brockelmann's views on the rightly- guided Caliphs as stated in his book "History of the Islamic Peoples" as they needed to be revised. The research applies the inductive, analytical, critical and descriptive approaches by tracing the evidence relying on induction, referring to their source books, specifying the cases and analyzing them in a way that would bring about a kind of objective criticism which could serve the topic of this research paper. By the end of the paper, the researcher has found out that some of the accounts on which Brockelmann relied were weak, flimsy and would never withstand historical criticism or the scientific approach of research. Moreover, many chapters of Brockelmann's book contained blatant and clear biases against Arabs and Muslims, indicating an orientalist attitude and religious fanaticism, in various forms such as brutality, barbarism, love of money, etc. Finally, the researcher has recommended establishing specialized research centers to refute the ancient and modern allegations of the orientalists, reform ideas and consolidate understanding.
