|a على الرغم من الكتابات المختلفة حول موضوع الضغوط الاجتماعية والنفسية Stress من جانب المهتمين بالصحة النفسية والبدنية، إلا أن عبارة أو مفهوم الضغوط لا تعني الشيء نفسه لهم جميعا. ومع ذلك يمكن القول بأن العامل المشترك في تعريفات العديد من المهتمين والباحثين في المجالين المذكورين هو الحمل الذي يقع على كاهل الكائن الحي وما يتبعه من استجابات من جانبه ليتكيف أو يتوافق مع التغيير الذي يواجهه، وعلى الرغم من أن مصطلح الضغوط قد خضع للبحث والدراسة لأكثر من قرن من الزمان إلا أنه مازال الباحثون يجدون صعوبة في وضع تعريف جامع مانع له، وفقا لتعدد التوجهات النظرية التي يتبناها كل باحث.
|b Despite the various writings on the subject of social and psychological stress by those interested in mental and physical health, the term or concept of stress does not mean the same thing to all of them. However, it can be said that the common factor in the definitions of many of those interested and researchers in the two aforementioned fields is the burden that falls on the organism and the subsequent responses on its part to adapt or comply with the change it faces, Although the term stress has been subject to research and study for more than a century, researchers still find it difficult to develop a comprehensive definition that does not include it, in accordance with the multiplicity of theoretical orientations adopted by each researcher.
