المستخلص: يسعى هذا المقال إلى تحديد فترة حكم عبد الرحمن بن رستم للدولة الرستمية، وذلك من خلال بحث مسألتين تاريخيتين حدث فيهما اختلاف بين المؤرخين المتقدمين والباحثين المتأخرين، ولا يمكن تحديد مدة حكمه إلا بالفصل فيهما، وهما: تاريخ بيعته التي ارتبطت بتأسيس مدينة تيهرت الجديدة وقيام الدولة الرستمية، وتاريخ وفاته، ولذلك سنحاول في هذا المقال مناقشة السنوات التي نقلها المؤرخون لتحديد تاريخي بيعة ووفاة عبد الرحمن، وما طرحه الباحثون من استنتاجات لترجيح بعضها، وذلك وفق مسارين في عملية بناء الاستنتاج النهائي؛ الأول يعتمد على نقد بعض السنوات، وتقديم ما توفر من حُجج تثبت عدم صحتها، مع طرح قراءة لكيفية تشكل الروايات التاريخية التي جاءت فيها، وهذا من أجل فهم اللبس الحاصل في وهم بعض المؤرخين والباحثين الذين لم يفرقوا بين حادثتي بيعة عبد الرحمن الأولى ووفاته، وبعض الأحداث التاريخية الأخرى. والثانية: تهدف إلى عرض ما يمكن من أدلة وقرائن للوصول إلى التاريخين الصحيحين لبيعة ووفاة عبد الرحمن، وهو ما يمكن في الأخير من حساب مدة حكمه للدولة الرستمية.

This article seeks to determine the period of Abd al-Rahman ibn Rustam rule over the Rustamid state, by examining two historical issues in which there was disagreement between early historians and later researchers, and the period of his rule cannot be determined except by deciding on them, namely: the date of his election, which was linked to the founding of the new city of Tiharat and the rise of the Rustamid state, and the date of his death. Therefore, this article will attempt to discuss the years mentioned by historians to determine the dates of Abd al-Rahman election and death, and the conclusions put forward by researchers to support some of these dates, according to two paths in the process of building the final conclusion; the first depends on criticizing incorrect years, and presenting available arguments that prove their incorrectness, while presenting a reading of how the historical narratives in which they were mentioned were formed, in order to understand the confusion resulting from the error of some historians who confused the incidents of the first election and the death of Abd al-Ruhman, and some other historical events. The second aims to present as much evidence and clues as possible to reach the correct dates of Abd al-Rahman election and death, which enables the latter to calculate the duration of his rule over the Rustamid state.
