إن أحداث الرواية التاريخية تستمد مادتها من الفترة الزمنية التي تحدث في الواقع، إذ تعبر الرواية عن الأزمنة التاريخية التي هي بمثابة درس من دروس التاريخ، ودائرة من دوائره المهمة المليئة بالمعارف التاريخية، ثم يحدث تفاعل بين المجتمع والأحداث، وهذا التفاعل ينتج مادة أدبية تحاول قراءة وفهم ودراسة الواقع الراهن قراءة منهجية وتاريخية، وعليه نجد أن المنهج التاريخي شكل هاجساً قوياً لدى الكثير من كتاب القصص والروايات، وبرز الكثير منهم في وقتنا الحاضر من أمثالهم سليم البستاني، فريد أبو حديد، وإنعام كجه ججي وهذه الأخيرة نجدها قد لمعت في الكثير من الدراسات النقدية ومناهجها المتعددة، فقد حوت رواياتها بعض التحولات التاريخية في المشهد العراقي منذ زمن رئيس الوزراء نوري السعيد إلى وقتنا هذا أي العصر الحديث، وشمل هذا البحث رواياتها الأربعة، كونها استعملت تقنية الاسترجاع الزمني وسردت الأحداث الماضية سردًا يبين الملامح التاريخية بجوانبها كافة.
The events of a historical novel derive their material from the time period in which they take place, as the novel reflects historical times that serve as lessons in history and important circles full of historical knowledge. There is an interaction between society and events, and this interaction produces literary material that attempts to read, understand, and study the current reality in a systematic and historical manner. Thus, we find that the historical approach has become a strong preoccupation for many writers of stories and novels. Many have excelled in our present time, such as Salim al-Bustani, Farid Abu Hadid, and Inaam Kachachi. The latter has shone in many critical studies and their various methodologies. Her novels have contained some historical transformations in the Iraqi scene from the time of Prime Minister Nuri al-Said to our present time (the modern era). This research includes her four novels, as she used the technique of flashback and narrated past events in a way that highlights the historical features in all their aspects.
