المستخلص: إن الرياضة تعتبر مرافقة للإنسان منذ نعومة أظافره، حيث إنه ومنذ وجوده على وجه الأرض وهو يتمتع بالحركة بشتى أنواعها، وتتنوع باختلاف فئات عمره، كما أنها تعد متنفس كبير، وذات فائدة عقلية وجسدية، حيث جاءت مقولة "العقل السليم في الجسم السليم" التي أثبتت أهمية الرياضة للإنسان، ففي هذا البحث ندرس أحد الأماكن والمعالم الرياضية التي تقام بها أنواع مختلفة من الرياضات في حضارتي الإغريق والرومان، ألا وهو حلبة السباق سيركوس (circus)، حيث يتناول البحث دراسة هذا المعلم معماريا، وفنيا، ووظيفيا من ناحية أنواع الرياضات التي تقام فيه، وكذلك دراسة لنماذج من هذه الحلبات في اليونان، وأيضا نموذج لحلبة السباق الرومانية وهي بمدينة لبدة بليبيا، ويهدف البحث إلى التعريف بأحد الأماكن والمعالم التي كان لها دور كبير بالجانب الترفيهي والرياضي لحقبة زمنية بدأت بألعاب أولمبية لازال صداها وامتدادها إلى وقتنا الحاضر مع تطور رياضات سابقة وانبثاق رياضات أخرى وإضافة رياضات جديدة، ونتج عن هذا البحث نتائج عدة أبرزها أن بداية الألعاب الأولمبية سنة 776 ق.م ومستمرة حتى وقتنا الحاضر والذي يصادف حاليا إقامة الألعاب الأولمبية في فرنسا (2024م)

Sport is considered a companion of man since his early childhood, as since his existence on the face of the earth he enjoys movement of all kinds, and varies according to the different age groups, as it is a great outlet, and has a mental and physical benefit, as the saying "a healthy mind in a healthy body" came to prove the importance of sport for man, in this research we study one of the places and sports landmarks in which different types of sports are held in the civilisations of the Greeks and Romans, namely the Circus Race Circuit, where the research deals with the study of this landmark architecturally, technically and functionally in terms of the types of sports that are held in it, as well as a study of models of these circuits in Greece and also a model of the Roman race circuit, which is in the city of Libda, Libya. The research aims to introduce one of the places and landmarks that had a great role in the entertainment and sports aspect of a period of time that began with the Olympic Games that still resonate and extend to the present time with the development of previous sports, the emergence of other sports and the addition of new sports, and this research resulted in several results, most notably that the beginning of the Olympic Games in 776 BC and continues to the present. and continues until the present time, which currently coincides with the holding of the Olympic Games in France (2024).
