Different opinions exist regarding the legitimacy of preemptive war, and the controversy surrounding it persists. Preemptive war is a military escalation undertaken by a state to thwart a potential or imminent military intervention. This type of warfare raises numerous questions. In terms of legitimacy, states employing this strategy seek to justify their actions as a means of self-defense and safeguarding national peace and security. They view preemptive attacks as one of the viable options under certain circumstances. Nevertheless, preemptive wars raise significant concerns about the preservation of global peace and stability. |
