|a أن فكرة المدينة الذكية هي بالأساس فكرة جديدة جاءت نتيجة التطور التكنلوجي- الرقمي الذي يعيشه عالمنا اليوم بفضل الثورة المعلوماتية التي نتجت من تطور ثورة الإنترنت والتي انعكست على مختلف مجالات الحياة وجوانبها الإنسانية، فلم تبقى المدينة مكتوفة الأيدي أمام هذا التحول الرقمي الذي شمل المجالات البشرية باسرها، فأخذت تحث الخطى نحو عالم افتراضي يتيح لها التعبير عن شخصيتها الافتراضية- الرقمية، والذي يحقق المزيد من الاندماج والتواصل العالمي والإنساني، وإدارة وفرز النفايات وغيرها، وجود شبكة الاستشعار اللاسلكية وهي شبكة من أجهزة استشعار ذكية لقياس العديد من المعلومات ونقل كافة البيانات في نفس الوقت للمواطنين أو السلطات المعنية.
