|a إن العقل هو القوة الفريدة والكامنة في دماغ الإنسان التي جعلته موجودا متميزا في هذا العالم، وهو موضوع فلسفة الذهن التي تكمن في بواطنها العديد من الإشكاليات، فجاء الفيلسوف الأمريكي هيلاري بوتنام بإسهامه في فلسفة الذهن من خلال اتجاهه الوظيفي الحوسبي الذي ارتكز على فكرة أن الحالات الذهنية كالآلام والمعتقدات وغيرها- هي حالات وظيفية للدماغ، ويتم تعريفها بواسطة الرموز الحوسبية، بالإضافة إلى رد العلاقات السيكولوجية كمدخلات ومخرجات، محاولة منه للإجابة على الإشكاليات الأساسية في فلسفة الذهن، كمشكلة العلاقة بين الذهن والجسد، ومشكلة الأذهان الأخرى... وغيرها.
