المستخلص: |
After the French occupation of Algeria in 1830 and the end of Ottoman rule, Algeria entered a new historical phase characterized by popular resistances against the French Crusader occupation. The most notable of these resistances was led by Emir Abdelkader, who sought to revive the Algerian state amid the political vacuum caused by the fall of Ottoman rule in the country. Emir Abdelkader took on the responsibility of confronting French forces, forming state institutions, and uniting all factions to face the enemy and establish foreign relations. Despite the fact that the correspondences between him and the Ottoman Empire did not reach actual cooperation, they demonstrated Emir Abdelkader's respect for the Ottoman Caliphate, contrary to what the colonial school promoted. |
