المستخلص: إذا كانت دراسة أحوال المركبات هي جل مباحث النحو أو تكاد- كان أول ما توجبه قضايا العقول هو البحث عن طبيعتها وماهيتها. فإذا أضيف إلى ذلك أن كلام الأقدمين فيها قد جاء مبثوثا منثورا؛ وأن كثيرا من اللسانين المحدثين لم يأبهوا بالتفتيش عن حاق أمرها، زاعمين أنها ليست من بحث اللغة في شيء، ثم تبين بأخرة خطأ ذلك- بات الانحفاز إلى درسها أشد، وصارت الحاجة إلى بحثها أوجب، والدواعي إلى كشف حالها أقوى وأكثر. من أجل ذلك، حاول هذا البحث- بتمثل منهجي الاستقراء والتحليل- الكشف عن طبيعة المركبات في العربية وماهيتها، من خلال التتبع الفاحص لأقاويل ثلة من جلة أهل العلم والنظر وسبرها والترجيح بينها، مع الاستئناس بما جاء به الدرس الحديث في ذلك ومثاقفته. هذا، وقد أظهر البحث أن غالب علماء العربية وجمهور أهل النظر من علماء الإسلام على أن لسان العرب حصل بالتواضع، وأن هذا الوضع لا يقتصر على وضع المفردات حسب، بل يمتد إلى المركبات كذلك، بيد أن وضع المركبات كان بالنوع لا بالشخص، خلافا لوضع المفردات.

Since the study of the conditions of compounds is the main focus of grammar, or nearly so, the first obligation of intellectual inquiries is to investigate their essence and nature. If we add to this that the words of the ancients on the subject were scattered and disorganized, and that many modern linguists have disregarded the search for the core of the matter, claiming that it is not related to the study of language at all, and then it later became clear that this was erroneousthis made the urge to study it even stronger, and the need to research it more pressing, with greater and more compelling reasons to explore its state. For this reason, this research attempted to reveal the true nature and essence of compounds in Arabic by examining the statements of Muslim scholars, analyzing them, and weighing them against each other, while also considering what modern studies have contributed in this regard and engaging with it. Moreover, the research showed that the majority of Arabic scholars and most scholars of Islam believe that the Arabic language was established through convention, and that this convention does not only apply to the establishment of individual words but also extends to compounds as well, although the establishment of compounds is by type rather than by individual.
