Twitter, a prominent digital medium, and the most used social media platform by diplomats, has significantly transformed the landscape of diplomatic practices and international relations. This paper reveals a duality in the narrative around Twitter’s impact on diplomacy, wherein its positive effects are observed through increased transparency, heightened public participation, and improved global understanding. The platform facilitates direct communication between diplomats and the global public, promoting an inclusive, transparent, and knowledgeable diplomatic environment. Nevertheless, the study also uncovers the significant obstacles and moral quandaries that arise from the use of Twitter in diplomatic efforts. Governments and diplomats have significant challenges in the form of misinformation, privacy problems, and diplomatic errors that require careful navigation. The dynamic of global politics is being reshaped by diplomats who are actively engaging with a global audience, resulting in a redefined balance of power and responsibility in the expanding diplomatic scene. This paper provides insights into the developments of digital diplomacy, anticipating the rise of virtual diplomatic summits, the use of artificial intelligence in diplomatic instruments, and the proliferation of diverse social media platforms. The paper shows that there is an increasing necessity for the implementation of ethical norms to effectively oversee and regulate this revolutionary process.
