|b The Asia-Pacific region consists of geographic groupings of the Far East, the Indian Subcontinent, and Oceania. It has great economic, political, and geostrategic importance, which has led to the emergence of important regional organizations, such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). This paper focuses on the extent to which historical, cultural, economic, and security aspects influenced: first, the emergence of this organization, and second, the formation of its founding members as well as the members which joined later.
