المستخلص: هدف البحث إلى إبراز المسوغات التي تجيز تفسير الألفاظ بالمعاني المحتملة عند المفسرين، واستخدم الباحث منهج الوصف والتحليل، وكان البحث ذا منحى تفسيري من حيث جمع وتحليل أقوال المفسرين التي تناولت تفسير الألفاظ بالمعاني المحتملة، وتم تقسيم البحث إلى مقدمة، وتمهيد، وسبعة مباحث تناولت بيان أقسام المسوغات، وختم البحث بأهم النتائج التي توصل إليها الباحث ومنها: أن تفسير بعض الألفاظ بالمعاني المحتملة يسير وفق سبعة مسوغات أدت إلى جواز التفسير بالمعنى المحتمل وهي: {عرف القرآن الخاص البيان النبوي التضمين السياق، التضاد، التعبير بالتنوع الاشتراك اللغوي}، ومنها أن موجبات تسويغ التفسير بالمعاني المحتملة تتنوع فمنها مسوغات توقيفية كعرف القرآن والبيان النبوي، ومسوغات عرفية بحسب الوضع الذي ورد عن لغة العرب نحو أن يكون للفظ أكثر من معنى كالاشتراك اللغوي والتضاد، ومن نتائج البحث أن بعض العوامل اللفظية التي يتعدى بها اللفظ قد يكون لها أثرا في انزياح اللفظ نحو أحد المعاني المحتملة، وأن هذه المسوغات تتيح الاتساع في المعنى اللغوي حيث أنها تكسب اللفظة معان لفظية عدة مما يؤدي إلى اتساع استخدامها في نصوص لغوية عدة وفي سياقات مختلفة. واستنادا للنتائج قدم الباحث عددا من التوصيات والمقترحات المهمة.

The research aimed to highlight the justifications that allow the interpretation of words with their possible meanings according to interpreters. The researcher employed the descriptive-analytical approach, with the study taking an interpretive methodology by collecting the interpreters' opinions regarding the interpretation of words with their possible meanings. The study was divided into an introduction, a preface defining the terms of the research title, and seven sections of the justifications types. The study concluded with the key findings, the most important being that the interpretation of some words with their possible meanings is not arbitrary among interpreters but follows seven justifications that justify the interpretation with possible meanings: {the specific Qur'anic usage, prophetic clarification, implication, context, antonyms, expressions variety diversity, and linguistic sharing}. The justifications for interpreting words with possible meanings vary. Some are corresponding, such as the specific usage of the Qur'an and prophetic clarification, while others are based on the usage in the Arabic language, such as linguistic sharing and antonyms. Some linguistic factors may influence a word's shift toward one of its possible meanings. These justifications provide flexibility in the linguistic meaning, allowing words to have multiple meanings, which expands their use in various linguistic texts and contexts. Based on these findings, the researcher presented several important recommendations and suggestions.
