|a أثبت العرب المسلمين إنهم على قدر كبير من الهمة والشجاعة والمقدرة على خوض كل الصعاب وطرق كل ما هو جديد فالبحر عند العرب لم يكن مجهول بل كانت لهم دراية به وخاصة سواحل المحيط الهندي فركبوه للتجارة التي قامت عليها حياتهم ثم تطوروا فركبوا البحر لعرض الدراسة وتحديداً علم الملاحة التي أبدع فيها ابن ماجد الذي نشأ نشأة بحرية خالصة وركب البحر ووضع قوانين وقواعد ثابتة في علم الملاحة وكانت له كتب من تألفا استفاد منها كل من جاء بعده حيث وضع شروط وقيود لكل من يريد تولي وظيفة ربان ولم تقتصر اهتمامه على الملاحة فقط بل كانت له إسهامات جغرافية اشهرها اختراع "الحقة" البوصلة العربية فابن ماجد كان من اعظم علماء القرن التاسع الهجري وكل ما تركه هو إرث علمي قيم.

The sea for the Arabs was not unknown, but they were familiar with it, especially the coasts of the Indian Ocean. Ibn Majid, who had a pure marine upbringing, embarked on the sea and set consistent laws and rules in the science of navigation, and he had books written by him that benefited everyone who came after him, as he set conditions and restrictions for everyone who wants to take over the position of a captain and his interests were not limited to navigation only, but he had geographical contributions The most famous of them is the invention of the Arabic compass, Ibn Majid was one of the greatest scholars of the ninth century AH, and all he left was a valuable scientific legacy.
