المستخلص: The research aimed to study the reality of the characteristics of poetry and songs presented to children according to the standards of children’s literature in terms of form, content, and roles in the curricula of the first cycle of basic education, and in the Omani Guide magazine for children. The study sample included songs prescribed to children in Arabic language books for grades 4-1 in basic education, and songs included in ten issues of Murshid magazine from March to December 2023. A content analysis card (which validity and reliability was confirmed before application) was used to analyze the songs. Means, frequencies, and percentages were extracted, and a t-test was conducted to measure the differences between the means and their significance in the statistical treatment of the data. Study results showed that the averages for providing the characteristics of form, content, and roles in the poetic texts presented in the school curricula and Murshid magazine were high, which confirms the interest of both the school curricula and children’s magazines represented in the Omani Murshid magazine in selecting poetic texts to be according to characteristics suitable for children. The study recommended increasing attention to diversifying topics of songs by including texts that are compatible with era development and help develop the imagination and creative abilities of children, and paying attention to the quality of presenting songs to children through interesting and attractive design and including pictures and drawings that serve the meaning. The current research aimed to identify the standards of literature writing for children of that age group and its educational, artistic, and psychological foundations, along with a presentation of both print and digital children's literature and the most important educational contents included in that literature. Additionally, it examined selected examples from several Arab children's literature writers and the main challenges and changes facing early childhood literature in the post-fourth industrial revolution and artificial intelligence era. The research concluded several recommendations as follows: • The necessity for cooperation among institutions concerned with early childhood to create a state of literary movement through workshops, seminars, and conferences in which children of that stage participate. • Merging printed and digital literature without one overshadowing the other; Additionally, staying up to date with techniques and mechanisms of artificial intelligence that protect the authors’ rights and maintain their role as primary creators. • The necessity for children's literature writers to consider the psychological and age characteristics of each stage of childhood despite their overlap; ensuring that this type of literature delivers its educational, moral, and artistic message as intended.
