المستخلص: تناولت الدراسة دور الزراعة المنزلية في تحسين المستوى المعيشي في مدينة بورتسودان هدفت إلى التعرف على مقومات الزراعة المنزلية بمنطقة الدراسة وأنواع المنتجات الزراعية، دور الحكومة في تطوير الزراعة المنزلية، التعرف على دورها في تحسين المستوى المعيشي، الوقوف على معوقات الزراعة المنزلية وإيجاد حلول لمعالجتها. استخدم الباحثان المنهج الإحصائي ومنهج المسح الاجتماعي وذلك باستخدام المصادر الأولية من استبانة ومقابلة وملاحظة، بالإضافة للمصادر الثانوية من كتب ورسائل علمية وإنترنت. توصلت الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج أهمها أن التربة والمياه واستخدام المخصبات العضوية أهم مقوماتها، تتركز في القطاع الأوسط ثم الجنوبي وتقل في الشرقي بسبب شح المياه وملوحة التربة تمارسها الفئات العمرية المنتجة من رجال ونساء وشباب في مستويات تعليمية مختلفة خاصة المستويات التعليمية العليا، تساهم في توفير الغذاء وتحسين مستوى الدخل للأسر والترابط الاجتماعي بمنطقة الدراسة، الدور الحكومي ضئيل وتواجهها تحديات تتمثل في ملوحة التربة وقلة المياه وعامل المناخ خاصة في الصيف وقلة رأس المال. أهم توصياتها توطين ثقافة الزراعة المنزلية بجميع أحياء منطقة الدراسة، إقامة نظام الشراكات الزراعية بين المواطنين داخل الأحياء السكنية لتبادل المنتجات وخلق مزيد من الترابط الاجتماعي، إقامة مشاريع حصاد مياه جديدة لتوفير المياه للزراعة وإدخال تربية الدواجن في نظام الزراعة الاهتمام بالإرشاد والإشراف الزراعي الحكومي لزيادة الإنتاج برفع الوعي لدي المواطنين بأهمية الزراعة المنزلية والاستفادة من تجارب الدول في هذا المجال لتحقيق أكبر قدر من الفوائد الاقتصادية والاجتماعية.

The study dealt with the role of home farming in improving the standard of living in Port Sudan. It aimed to identify the components of home farming in the study area and the types of agricultural products; the role of the government in developing home farming; identifying its role in improving the standard of living; and identifying home farming obstacles and finding solutions to address them. The researchers used the statistical method and the social survey method, using the primary sources of questionnaire, interview and observation, in addition to the secondary sources of books, scientific theses and the Internet. The study came up with several findings, the most important of which is that soil, water, and the use of organic fertilizers are the most important components of home farming. Home farming is concentrated in the central and southern sectors, and decreases in the eastern part due to water scarcity and soil salinity. It is practiced by the productive age groups of men, women and youth at different educational levels, especially the higher educational levels. It also contributes to providing food, improving the income level of families and strengthens social cohesion in the study area. However, the government role is small, and the home farming faces challenges represented in soil salinity, lack of water and the climate factor, especially in summer, in addition to the lack of capital. The most important recommendations are to localize the culture of home farming in all neighborhoods of the study area, to establish a system of agricultural partnerships among citizens within residential neighborhoods to exchange products and create more social cohesion, to establish new water harvesting projects to provide water for agriculture, to introduce poultry farming into the farming system, paying attention to government agricultural guidance and supervision to increase production by raising awareness of the importance of home farming among citizens and, finally, benefiting from the experiences of countries in this field to achieve the greatest economic and social benefits.
