المستخلص: Manystudies link the emergence and development of the Orientalist movement, which flourished in modern and contemporary times, to the role played by the Church in the Middle Ages through its interest in Islamic heritage. A current within this movement focused on distorting the image of Islam by maligning its creed, the noble prophetic biography, and Islamic history in general. Missionaries played a significant role in damaging the image of Islam through their activities in the Islamic world, where they concentrated on distorting Islam and its values and promoting Christianity through missionary missions and the establishment of universities. This presentation will focus on examples of missionaries who used Orientalism as a vehicle to defame Islam, spread their ideas, and support missionary activities in Islamic countries.
