|a هدفت الدراسة "الخرطوم بين يدي المهدي وغردون: دراسة لمواقف الرجلين بين الاعتدال والتشدد" إلى التعرف على مواقف الرجلين الذين يقفان على طرفي نقيض من بعضهما البعض حول الخرطوم، وموقف أي منهما من الآخر من خلال الرسائل التي تبودلت بينهما أثناء حصار الخرطوم. - اتبعت الدراسة منهج البحث التاريخي- الوثائقي. - توصلت الدراسة إلى أن المهدي اتخذ موقفاً مناسباً من غردون بعد أن أدرك مكانة الرجل الكبيرة بين قومه، فخاطبه بقدر كبير من التسامح والاعتدال. في حين أخفق غردون في تقييم شخصية المهدي ومكانته، لذا اتسم تعامله بقدر كبير من التشدد وعدم المبالاة.
|b The study aimed Khartoum in the hand of the Mahdi and Gordon: study of the attitude of the two men between moderation and extremism to identify the positions of the two men who stand at opposite ends of each ather around Khartoum, and the position of either one through the messages exchanged between them during the siege of Khartoum. The study followed the documentary historical method. The study found that the Mahdi has taken appropriate stance of the man after realizing his status among his people. therefore, thou great deal of tolerance and moderation, while Gordon failed to evaluation character Mahdi and his status, so characterized his handling of a great deal of militancy and indifference.
