تكمن أهمية البحث في أنه يتناول جهبدا من جهابذة علماء الجرح والتعديل، وهو الإمام يحيى بن معين، بجمع أقواله في الرجال من رواية الحافظ أبي بكر أحمد بن أبي خيثمة عنه، وقد جاء البحث في مقدمة، ومبحثين، وخاتمة، وقد اشتمل المبحث الأول على التعريف بالإمام يحيى بن معين، والحافظ ابن أبي خيثمة، ودراسة لهذه الرواية، وجاء المبحث الثاني بذكر أقوال الإمام يحيى بن معين في الرجال رواية ابن أبي خيثمة عنه، وقد برز من خلال البحث مكانة الإمام يحيى بن معين، ودور الحافظ أبي بكر ابن أبي خيثمة في خدمة السنة النبوية، وقد بلغ عدد التراجم الواردة بهذه الرواية – حسبما وقفت عليه- (۸۷۲) ترجمة، وكان من بين توصيات البحث جمع بقية الروايات الواردة عن ابن معين، في مؤلف مستقل وإبرازها خدمة للعلم وأهله، وكذلك جمع الرواة الذين اختلف قول ابن معين فيهم من خلال الروايات الواردة عنه؛ للوقوف على سبب ذلك الاختلاف.
The importance of the research lies in the fact that it deals with some of the most talented scholars of the wound and modification, which is Imam Yahya bin Mu’in, by collecting his sayings in the men from the narration of al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Khaithama on him. The research came in an introduction, two papers, and a conclusion, and the first study included introducing the Imam Yahya bin Mu’in, and Al-Hafiz Ibn Abi Khaithama, and a study of this story. The second study mentioned the sayings of Imam Yahya bin Ma’in in the men’s narration of Ibn Abi Khaithamah about him, and through the research the status of Imam Yahya bin Mu’in and the role of the Hafiz Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Khaithama in serving The Sunnah of the Prophet, and the number of translations contained in this narration - according to what I found - reached (872) a translation, and among the recommendations of the research was to collect the rest of the narrations received on the authority of Ibn Ma'in, in an independent book and present them in the service of knowledge and his family, as well as collecting the narrators who differed from Ibn Ma'in's saying about them Through the narrations received about him, to find out the reason for that difference.
