This paper examines the factors influencing a nation's innovation capacity, focusing on Algeria within the MENA region. It highlights the importance of a strong innovation ecosystem for economic growth. By analyzing Algeria's performance in the Global Innovation Index, the paper identifies challenges such as insufficient R&D investment, bureaucratic barriers, and weak intellectual property protections. To improve its innovation ranking, Algeria needs to prioritize strategic investments in education, research, and infrastructure, create a supportive business environment, and enhance international collaborations. The paper concludes with recommendations for innovation policy that integrates both top-down and bottom-up initiatives. |
