|a ازدهرت التجارة الخارجية في مصر خلال العصر الفاطمي بصورة كبيرة، حيث كانت مصر تتمتع بثراء عظيم، ونشطت العلاقات التجارية بينها وبين وبلاد المغرب، وذلك لامتداد النفوذ الفاطمي على الشمال الإفريقي بصفة عامة، مما منح التسهيلات المختلفة للتجار من مصر وبلاد المغرب، بل أن الحجاج المغاربة ظلوا طيلة العصر الفاطمي يسافرون إلى الحجاز عن طريق مصر، وادي ذلك لنشاط الحركة التجارية، وازدهارها بين البلدين. واهتمت الدولة الفاطمية بالتجارة في مصر فعملت على تأمين الطرق التجارية بها، وإقامة الأسواق والمنشآت التجارية فيها. وقد ساهم وجود الفنادق في مصر في ازدهار حركة النشاط التجاري، حيث سهلت علي التجار إقامتهم ومزاولة أعمالهم، ولعبت دورا بارزاً من الناحية الاقتصادية بما تحتويه من بضائع كثيرة ورؤوس أموال.

The Fatimid state Paid attention to trade in Egypt, and they worked to secure its trade routes, and to establish markets and commercial establishments there. The Presence of hotels in Egypt Contributed to the Flourishing of the commercial activity within the city, as it facilitated the residence of merchants and the conduct of their business, and it Played a Prominent role in economic terms with its many goods and Capital.
