المستخلص: هدف هذا البحث إلى معرفة الآثار الاجتماعية والاقتصادية للإعاقة الحركية لدى الكبار، ومن أجل تحقيق هذا الهدف تم الاعتماد على منهج دراسة الحالة، وتم تطبيق أداة دراسة الحالة على أثنين من المعاقين حركياً بالإضافة إلى أفرد أسرهم، وتم اختيار المعاقين وأسرهم ممن يتلقون الساعدة والدعم من جمعية الإعاقة الحركية للكبار (عازم) بمنطقة عسير. وكانت أهم نتائج هذا البحث أن هناك آثار اجتماعية للإعاقة الحركية تتفاوت من حالة لأخرى تبعاً للمستوى التعليمي للفرد المعاق والأسرة والوعي الصحي والديني، كما كشفت النتائج عن وجود آثار اقتصادية للإعاقة الحركية تتفاوت هي أيضا تبعاً للمستوى المهني للأسرة ومستوى الدخل الشهري، وأوصى البحث بضرورة نشر الوعي المجتمعي بأهمية مساعدة المعاق حركيا وأسرته لتخفيف الآثار الاجتماعية والاقتصادية عنهم. وتنمية الوعي الديني لدى المعاق حركياً وأسرته لتقبل تبعات الإعاقة والصبر عليها، كما أوصى البحث الجهات الحكومية مساعدة المعاقين حركيا وأسرهم مادياً وعلاجياً ومعنوياً.

The aim of this research is to know the social and economic effects of motor disability among adults. In order to achieve this goal, a case study approach was relied upon. The case study tool was applied to two motor disabled people in addition to members of their families. The disabled and their families were selected as those who receive assistance and support from the Association Motor disability for adults (Azm) in the Asir region. The most important results of this research were that there are social effects of motor disability that vary from one case to another depending on the educational level of the disabled individual, the family, and health and religious awareness. The results also revealed that there are economic effects of motor disability that also vary according to the family’s professional level and the level of monthly income. The research recommended the necessity of spreading awareness. Community awareness of the importance of helping the physically disabled and his family to alleviate the social and economic impacts on them. Developing the religious awareness of the physically disabled and his family to accept the consequences of the disability and be patient with it. The research also recommended that government agencies help the physically disabled and their families financially, therapeutically and morally.
