|b Mohammed Abed al-Jabri, the Moroccan philosopher and thinker, is distinguished by a unique critical methodology in reading Arab-Islamic heritage, as demonstrated in his book "We and the Heritage." Al-Jabri seeks to liberate the Arab mind from the constraints of tradition through an analytical and deconstructive approach. He views heritage as the product of historical and cultural interactions and calls for a critical reading that distinguishes between elements that can be reappropriated in the modern era and those that should be discarded. In "We and the Heritage," al-Jabri relies on three main pillars: structural analysis, historical criticism, and reconstruction. He analyzes texts to uncover their deep structures and mechanisms of thought, situates them within their historical contexts to understand the conditions that produced them, and then rephrases them in a way that allows their integration into contemporary thought. Additionally, al-Jabri distinguishes between three epistemological systems in heritage: Bayani (the traditional understanding of religious texts), Irfani (Sufi philosophy) , and Burhani (rational philosophy). He believes that the dominance of Bayani and Irfani has hindered the development of the Arab mind. Through this methodology, al-Jabri calls for an intellectual renaissance based on critical rational foundations, attempting to present heritage as a renewable asset rather than a burden, serving the aspirations of the present and future and contributing to the building of a modern and advanced society.
