تناولت الدراسة (أصول الفرق الإسلامية وأسباب نشأتها)، تتمثل أهمية الدراسة في الوقوف على أسباب وقيام نشأة الفرق وجذورها، والدعوة إلى توحيد الأمة الإسلامية، ونبذ التفرقة. وأن توحيد الله تعالى والإيمان به يوحد المنهج ويوحد المنطلقات والغايات عند غير المشركين، وكذلك أخذ الدروس والعبر والعمل على تجنب كل الشبهات والأباطيل. هدفت الدراسة إلى معرفة طريقة المساهمة في تقويم المجتمع الإسلامي وإنقاذه من تلك الأفكار الهدامة. أفكار الفرق الضالة لأخذ الحيطة والحذر منها. الجوانب السلبية لهذه الفرق وانعكاسها الناتج عن اختلاف بعضها. تتمثل مشكلة الدراسة في السؤال الرئيس ماهي أصول وأسباب نشأة الفرق الإسلامية؟، وتتفرع عنه التساؤلات التالية: ما هو مفهوم الأصول والفرق؟ ما هي أصول الفرق الإسلامية؟ ما هي الأسباب الداخلية والخارجية التي أدت إلى نشأة الفرق الإسلامية؟. اتبعت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي. توصلت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج، أهمها: كان للديانات السابقة كاليهودية والنصرانية والوثنية والصائبة والمجوسية أثر كبير في ظهور الفرق الإسلامية كالشيعة والخوارج. الاتفاق في أصول الدين كفيل بجمع الصف، وحدة الكلمة وما يجمع المسلمين أكثر مما يفرقهم. وقدمت الدراسة عدد من التوصيات، منها: الاهتمام بدراسة الفرق والأديان والبحوث التي تعنى بكشف الغموض. الاهتمام بحل مشكلات التخلف التي اجتاحت العام الإسلامي وكانت سبباً في فرقة أبنائه وضياع قدراتهم وطاقاتهم.

The study made a number of recommendations, including: interest in studying sects and religions, and research concerned with unraveling ambiguities.
