520 |b In order to maximize the benefit from the latest 2006 population Census data in Egypt, the study presents some demographic, social, economic aspects of the population in 2006. \ The following is a summary of the most important results of the study: \ \ 1. Cairo governorate alone has 11,6% of the total population, this represents a fifth of the population of the urban population. Sharkia governorate has the highest proportion of population in lower Egypt, reaching 7.4% of the total population of in Egypt, followed by Dakahlia governorate. Giza has largest population of Upper Egypt, of about 7.9% of the population of Egypt. \ \ 2. The burden of age dependency is a 55% for all Egypt, and the highest age dependency ratio (69%) are in the following governorates: (Minya - Assiut - South. North Sinai), and lower age dependency ratio (31%) is located in the South Sinai governorate. \ \ 3. The highest proportion of illiterates is located in the governorates of Upper Egypt, while the urban governorates have the lowest proportion of illiterates. \ \ 4. Cairo governorate has the highest of population who has (a university degree and above), where the figure was 21.4% for males compared with 17.5% for females, while the lowest percentage is in Fayoum and matroh governorates representing 5.1%, 5.7%, for males in the two governorates respectively and 3.2% for females in each of the two governorates. \ \ 5. The data indicates that about one third of males (aged 18 years +) had never married; while the females had never married women account for about a quarter of women (age of 16 years +), with the exception of the Fayoum governorate, reaching about fifth of women who have reached the age of marriage. The percentage of divorced and widowed amounted to 2.2% for males compared to 11.9% for females and reached a maximum in the governorate of port Said. \ \ 6. The participation rate of males are much higher compared to females in all the governorates, and the participation rate of males is 70.7% versus 1,5.8% for females. \ \ 7. The economic dependency ratio for Egypt is 231%, and this means that every 100 persons in the labour force relying 231 person outside the labour force. This ratio varies from one governorate to another and so is more in the governorates of Upper Egypt, as compared to lower Egypt. \ \ 8. A high proportion of female workers paid cash (15 years and over) than males, it represents about 89.5% of males compared with 94.6% for females, while the proportion of employers and owned workers is much higher for males compared to females. \ \ 9. Data indicate that half of individuals outside the labor force for males (15 years and over) are students while about 30% of the pension or not working, and the female outside the labor force come from the home full-time work 79.4% and about 15% students, 5% pension or old is not working. \ \ 10. The unemployment rate for total Egypt is 7.7% for males compared with 19.2% for females. The highest rates are in Aswan and Luxor for males and in Qena and Aswan for the females. The lowest rates of unemployment recorded in South Sinai and Matrouh. \ \ 11. The distribution of the employed persons according to occupation indicated that 37.2% of males were production workers (craftsmen - the operation of factories workers - ordinary workers), while 28% of males are agriculture workers and for women the proportion was highest in the category of managers, and specialists in the majority of the governorates compared to males, except South Sinai Governorate. \ \ 12. The distribution of the employed persons according the economic activity indicated that the agricultural sector have absorbed to the highest percentage of employed persons, (the governorate of Minya & Fayoum have the highest percentage in the Upper Egypt compared to Behera & Kafr e؛-Sheikh, in Lower Egypt). 72.4% of employed persons engaged in services in the f South Sinai, and 66.9% in the Red Sea. \ \ 13. The percentage of women employed in the service sector is 57.7% of the total employment of women, while the fifth were employed in wholesale and retail trade. Females' Workers in agriculture sector are not more than about 10% of the total employed women.
