تتناول الدراسة مدى استخدام أعضاء هيئة التدريس بجامعة الزرقاء الأهلية للمجلات الإلكترونية التي توفرها مكتبة الجامعة، من خلال التعرف إلى مدى معرفتهم بتوافرها في المكتبة وواقع الاستخدام وأغراضه، ومدى أهمية توافرها في المكتبة من وجهة نظرهم، ومدى تلبيتها لأغراض استخدامهم، ومدى قدرتهم على البحث فيها، وإبراز المعوقات التي تمنع أو تقلل من إفادتهم منها. تكون مجتمع الدراسة من (134) عضو هيئة تدريس من ذوي الخبرة في الجامعة لأكثر من عام أكاديمي، وقد استجاب 105 أو (78%) منهم. كشفت النتائج عن ضعف استخدام المجلات الإلكترونية التي توفرها المكتبة، حيث يستخدمها 43 أو (41%) فقط. وكشفت الدراسة أن إفادة فئة المستخدمين المستجيبين من مجتمع الدراسة من المجلات الإلكترونية أعلى من إفادتهم من المجلات الورقية، وأن دوافعهم لاستخدامها هو ما تتميز به المجلات الإلكترونية عن المجلات الورقية من ميزات، وما تحققه لهم من أغراض أهمها البحث العلمي، والتحضير للتدريس، بالرغم من أن 85 أو (81.4%) منهم يشعرون إنها تلبي أغراض الاستخدام بدرجة تتراوح بين المتوسطة والقليلة. وبين 95 أو (90.7%) منهم أنهم عرفوا بتوافر المجلات الإلكترونية في المكتبة عن طريق النشرات الورقية التي تعتمدها المكتبة كوسيلة للتعريف بها. وبينت النتائج أن أسباب عدم استخدام المجلات الإلكترونية لدى 66 (أو62,9%) من فئة غير المستخدمين لها يعود إلى عدة معوقات أبرزها عدم معرفتهم بتوافر المجلات الإلكترونية في المكتبة، وتدني درجة معرفة وصولهم لها والبحث فيها. وأوصت الدراسة بضرورة توفير برامج تدريبية في استخدام المجلات الإلكترونية والبحث فيها، واهتمام المكتبة بإعلام أعضاء هيئة التدريس بتوافر المجلات الإلكترونية من خلال استخدام الوسائل الترويجية الحديثة، وكذلك توفير المجلات الإلكترونية باللغة العربية بالنص الكامل في المجالات المختلفة وخاصة العلوم الإنسانية
This study deals with the use of electronic journals available at the library of Zarka Private University by faculty members. It attempts to reveal the awareness of faculty members of the availability of the electronic journals at the library in addition to the actual use of those journals and the purposes of this use. Moreover, the study tries to display the importance of the availability of the electronic journals at the library from faculty members' points of views. It also seeks to point out the extent to which those journals fulfill their purposes and the extent to which they are able to access those journals effectively. Besides, the study aims at presenting the barriers which impede the teaching staff members from utilizing the electronic journals efficiently. The study population consisted of (134) faculty members who have more than one academic year of teaching experience at the university. The respondents were 105 (or 78%). The findings of the study revealed a lack of accessing the electronic journals available at the library. Only 43 (or 41%)of the respondents claimed use of electronic journals while 62 (or 59% )do not. The results illustrated that faculty members benefit more from electronic journals than from the paper versions, because electronic journals fulfill their purposes of preparation for lectures and scientific research. Nevertheless,85 (or 81.4%)of the respondents feel that electronic journals satisfy their purposes of use to a middle or little degree, while the majority of the respondents 95 (or 90.7%) knew about the availability of electronic journals at the library from the handouts distributed by the library. The study also revealed that 66 (or 62.8%)of the non users respondents do not access electronic journals due to many barriers. The most important ones are lack of awareness of the availability of electronic journals at the library in addition to the inability to find and access those journals. The study recommended that training programs be available to accessfaculty members electronic journals. Similarly, the library ought to inform the faculty members of the available electronic journals via up-to-date promotional means. Finally, the library should make obtainable full-text electronic journals in Arabic language in various fields especially the field of human sciences.
