After the Tatars had invaded Iraq, they headed towards Al-Sham territories where the propaganda about their blood shedding spread. Princes and common people were so scared that they assisted and supplied them with whatever backups they demanded. Besides, the Christians supported them in Al-Sham territories and Armenia till they conquered the towns of Al-Sham such as Aleppo and Damascus. The Tatars reached Palestine; therefore, they are encouraged to capture Egypt. The research entitled “The Role of Sultan Saif-al Deen Qatz in the Battle of Ain Jalut, 658 H./ 1260 A.D.” is divided into three pivots: the first is about his ascending the throne after he had been once a little kid sold into slavery in the time following the catastrophe of Khawarizm State and then his arrival at Egypt to be a ruler confronting the Tatars. The second pivot is about how he prepared for the war against the Tatars. He directed all his efforts for the preparations; so he raised the necessary money from common and special people, in addition, he designed the necessary war plans and sought safety from the Crusade danger which was the source of concern for the army of Sultan Qatz. In the third pivot, the researcher presents what happened at the battle in which the Tatars achieved some kind of a victory at its beginning till the personality of Qatz emerged to be of great influence in the resistance of the Egyptian army and its achieving of victory over the Tatars in the end. There is also the conclusion of the research that includes its findings. I ask Allah to grant me success which is only granted by Him.
