إن قضية التنمية والتقدم في أي مجتمع، تتجاوز مجرد عملية استيراد تقنية جديدة أو ترجمة كتاب أو ورقة بحثية، أو الانقياد لنهج فكري معين تتجاوز ذلك كله إلى ضرورة فهم معنى ومغزى المنتج الحضاري أو الثقافي أيًا كان شكله ماديًا كان أو معنويًا في سياق اللحظة التاريخية والظروف المجتمعية التي أنتجته، هذا الفهم هو شرط الاستيعاب الخلاق، الذي يؤدي بدوره إلى القدرة على التكيف ويدفع المجتمع الذي يستورده إلى تجاوز مرحلة الاستهلاك والتبعية إلى مرحلة الوعي بالمضمون الثقافي لمنتجات تلك الحضارة، وتهدف الدراسة الراهنة إلى تقديم فهم سوسيولوجي لاستخدامات الباحثين المصريين لتكنولوجيا المعلومات في البحث الأكاديمي لطلاب الدراسات العليا والباحثين في علم الاجتماع في مصر، وينطوي هذا الهدف على مجموعة من الأهداف الفرعية الأخرى منها الكشف عن الحضارة العامة التي تتسم بها المواقع الإلكترونية الخاصة والموجودة على شبكة المعلومات، كذلك التعرف على تصورات الباحثين لانعكاسات ثورة المعلومات على منهجية البحث السوسيولوجي، كذلك التعرف على الإمكانيات والقدرات المتوافرة لدى الباحثين للاستفادة من شبكة المعلومات في مجال البحث العلمي.
The issue of development and progress in any society goes far beyond the process of importing a new technology, translating a book or a research paper, or even adapting a given intellectual line of thought. It is necessary to understand the whether. It is necessary to understand the meaning and significance of the cultural product whether it is concrete or abstract within the context of the historical moment and the societal circumstances which have produced it. This understanding should be the condition for the creative apprehension which leads to the ability to adaptation and which forces the society which imports it to go beyond the phase of consumption to the phase of awareness of the cultural content of the product of that civilization. This study aims to at introducing a sociological understanding of the use of Egyptian scholars of the information technology in the academic research of their higher studies students in the field of sociology in Egypt. The main objective of this study involves a number of other minor objectives such as revealing the general civilization which characterizes the electronic sites on the internet. It also aims to highlighting the concepts of the scholars concerning the reflections of the information revolution on the methodology of research in sociology. Finally, the research aims to identifying the available abilities of scholars in order to make the optimum benefit from the internet in the field of academic research.
