Ottoman prints ( Salinmat ) have been considered a significant documentary source since they registered the news and events of the Ottoman states in various fields. Basra documents are part of this. The available number of them is only seven. They provided information on Basra districts; Basra district ( the city centre ), A1 - Mentifik district, Ammara district and Najid district, at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth one. As far as the present study is concerned, these prints provided valuable geographical, economic and social information on the city of Ammara. However, the administrative side has been given much more importance and exact details as far as the administrative staff of the city together with information on this system tasks and jobs and even the clerk's names, which might not be found in other references on Ammara modern history.
