اختلف العلماء والباحثون المهتمين بظاهرة الإجرام في تفسير الجريمة وتحديد طبيعتها وأنماطها ودرجة خطورتها وطبيعة الفئة التي تمارسها، كما اختلفوا في وجهات الطرح بالنسبة للقضايا والأحداث والأفكار. هذا شيء منطقي باعتبار أن الإنسان لا يدرك مجموعة الحقائق المختلفة دفعة واحدة، بل يجزئها إلى أفكار أو معلومات محددة وواضحة، وهذا ما يؤدي بالبعض للاستناد إلى نظرية معينة دون أن يهتم بالنظريات الأخرى. في حين آخرون يجمعون أغلب الاتجاهات النظرية، ويعملون على الاستناد إليها. مما لا شك فيه أن المقاربة النظرية للجريمة تتطلب من الباحث الاجتماعي فهما ووعياً كاملاً لأبعادها، وفهم المناخ الثقافي والسياق الاجتماعي للمجتمع الذي تحدث فيه، والتطرق إلى التفسيرات الأخرى التي جاء بها علماء النفس والبيولوجيا والطب في تفسيرها.
There is a discord between scientists and researchers who are concerned with the phenomenon of criminality to explain the crime and define its nature, its patterns, its degree of gravity and the nature of the category that exerts it. Therefore, their viewpoints are different about issues, events and thoughts which lean on each researcher to explain the criminal phenomenon, and this is logical when we take into consideration that humans do not grasp a group of different realities in a single batch.
