It seems that the interpretation of Hintenigton and his history for the one thousand four hundred years is mistaken because Islam has never been at any time a party in a conflict with any religion. Islam has guaranteed for all religions to survive and continue and that the Islamic-Western conflict as Hintenigton asserts in the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century was due to the increase in population of Islamic countries. The conflict among cultures has been a subject occupying the thinking of intellectuals, academicians, and people in general fourteen years ago. Since the Arabs and Muslims are the most targeted ones in this conflict, it has become incumbent to take part in knowing and analyzing it in reality. It has become also necessary to make knowledge of it as regards what it implies and what its targets are. Many discussions, comments and reactions were published against the idea of conflict among cultures in America, Europe and the Arab world. Many seminars and symposia were held in American, European and Arab universities that attracted researchers and specialists from various quarters to discuss the concepts, targets and the aspirations of the theory. Calling for a dialogue among cultures was a trait of the second half of the twentieth century that elapsed seven years ago. Therefore, many sections and institutions in the world decided to adopt the call for a dialogue among cultures for the followers of various cultures in favor of paving the way for understanding, cooperation and peaceful co-existence. |
