المستخلص: It is only recently that the researcher of the present topic has come across the most famous scholars who studied, with great greed and interest, Francis Al-Marash. Among these scholars is Karam Al- Hillu, who in his Ph.D thesis entitled: The Liberal thought of Francis Al-Marash', has arrived at considerable assessements of Al- Marash's language, style, poetry, thoughts and philosophy.
However, the researcher absolutely denies what all those who regard Al-Marash as a 'liberal writer', In his "غاية " and "مشهد الأحوال" which are the most famous literary works, Al- Marash has been shown an ideal scholar who respects Hegel who was a constant inspiration of him.
The corner- stone in Al- Marash's philosophy is that the person should know himself and be elevated to the group of which he is a part. He is an intimate member of his histotical society among which he is born and to which he owes all his Existence. From here, the free person is the one who adores the state and places the duties, which it imposes upon him, at the top of his responsibilities.
Nevertheless, Al- Marash is not against the individual freedom as long as it expresses objectively the level of awareness of freedom, In this case it is the essence of spirit which in its turn is the essence of history.
A last point is that Francis Al-Marash can be considered a conservative philosopher whose literary works, religion, arts, and the philosophy of history are all a reflection of what he thinks, believes and does, Undoubtedly his greateness will remain the pioneer of the philosophy of resurrection of Arabic thought and history.
