المستخلص: The health care system in Egypt is facing many challenges to improve service and ensure the safety and health of members of the Egyptian people, health system in Egypt does not face only the burden of disease associated with poverty and low education level, but also responds to the diseases associated with the ways of modem living and civil rights. This study presents a brief overview of the health care system in Egypt in relation to government health facilities and estimation of the number of doctors and nurses to be available for obtaining the best care possible. Objective of the study: The study aims to estimate the number of doctors, nurses and hospital beds, according to the governorates during the period (2011- 2031). The main finding: - The number of doctors in Cairo was estimated as 9.3 thousand in 2011 raised to 15.6 thousand in 2031 while in Alexandria it was about thousand in 2011 increased to 22.0 in 2031. - Concerning the nursing staff, the number of nurses were estimated in Cairo as 6.6 thousand in 2011, while it was 7.2 thousand at the same year in Alexandria. Ismailia governorate is the most required by the provision of health services (nurses, beds in hospitals) among the channel governorates, followed by Port Said governorate and then Suez. - Port Said governorate occupied first rank among the channel governorates estimate of the number of doctors that it needs. Dakahlia governorate has the highest needed number of doctors from all other governorate, followed by Gharbia and Sharkia, and finally Qaliubiya. - The needed number of beds in hospitals is higher in Dakahlia followed Qaliubiya governorate, Sharkia and finally Damietta. - The highest estimate of the needed number of doctors appear in Giza Governorate (5.159 doctor) and the lower number in Luxor governorate (972 doctors). - Assiut governorate has the highest of the needed number of nurses, followed by Giza, Fayoum, and Luxor. - North Sinai Governorate is the most needy in the number of nurses, followed by New Valley and the Red Sea Governorate came the last one. - Relating to the number of beds in hospitals, Matrouh governorate is the highest recognition, followed by New Valley and finally the South Sinai Governorate. Recommendations: Increasing of the medical services in terms of: - The number of doctors and nursing staff. - Development of public hospitals and health insurance. - Increase the hospital beds, especially in the Upper and Lower Egypt.
