This study searches for the historical roots of the Jewish Biblical books of poetry and wisdown such as Psalms , Proverbs , Song of Songs , Job and Jerimiah's Lamentations. These books represent the third source of the Judaic Code (The Old Testament). Our concentration has been on Psalms for its poetic style , its connection with the prophet David , its composition which lasted for about 8 centuries , its reference in both religious books , The Old Testament and Holy Qura'n , and also for the unbelievable roumer against David as having killed Oriah the Hitite in order to have sex with his wife. These Psalms consist of 150 ones , composed or written either in Palestine or in other lands like Babylonia , where the 137 Psalm was composed to reflect the Jews' suffering and their affection towards Jernsalem. Yet , the writer of this famous Psalm is still unknown. Ultimately , this study has come into the conclusion that these Psalms are not the same religious books as mentioned in the Holy Qura'n.(Al-Zabur) , since the latter is reveald by Allah, while most of the Psalms were either composed or written by many writers and in different times. So, they have missed their sacred nature like the whole books of The Old Testament. |
