يمثل هذا البحث واحدًا من مظاهر الدرس الحديثي، المتعلق بتواريخ الرجال المحلية، وهو من الدراسات الهامة في ميدان علم التراجم، نظرًا لأهميته في الكشف عن أحوال رواة الحديث، ووفرة معلوماته، ومعالجته لأدق التفاصيل، على نحو لا تكاد تجده في غيره. تناولت فيه مدينة عدن، حيث كانت حاضرة إسلامية، لها تاريخ علمي مشهود، بهدف الكشف عن جهود أهلها في خدمة علم الحديث، فقمت بجمع تراجم المحدثين منها، من أهلها، أو ممن دخلها من غير أهلها، ودراسة مضامين تلك التراجم، وخرجت بجملة نتائج من أهمها، الكشف عن مكانة عدن العلمية، والتي امتدت نحوًا من عشر قرون ويزيد، وقد كان المحدثون في عدن، من علية القوم بالنظر إلى ما تبوأوه من ألقاب علمية، فمنهم كبار الحفاظ والنقاد، وقد تقلبوا في مناصب علمية أو سياسية كالقضاء، وأن عامة المحدثين من عدن من الثقات، ولم أقف على من تكلم فيهم، مع غياب لوجود المحدثات من النساء، خلافًا لبغداد ودمشق وغيرهما، وربما يعود ذلك لندرة المصنفات في محدثي أهل عدن، ففات بذلك أسماء المحدثات، أو أن شيئًا من ذلك لم يصل إلينا، وهذا ما تميل إليه النفس، ولعل في هذه المحاولة ما يدعو إلى الكشف عن الموروث العلمي والثقافي الكثير من مدن عالمنا الإسلامي.
The research represents one of the facets of the study of Narration; the history of local men. It is one of the important studies in the science of translation due to the importance of identifying the conditions of Narrators, their knowledge and a degree of scrutiny that cannot be found elsewhere. I covered the city of Aden in this research, which was a pillar of Islam with a history of scientific achievement, to uncover the efforts of the people of Aden in aiding the science of Narration. I collected the translation of the narrators of Aden. From the locals as well as the visitors to the city. I studied the context of the translations and came to a number of conclusions. The most important result was uncovering the scientific significance o Aden over the past 10 centuries. The narrators in Aden were of the upper class of society judging by their scientific titles such as the memorizers and critics. They had been in different scientific or political positions such as judges. The majority of narrators from Aden are trustworthy as I have not only spoken to them but who knew them as well since there were female narrators unlike Bagdad, Damascus and others. This could be due to the scarcity of categories of Aden's narrators that is why the female narrators names were missed or perhaps that we simply did not get word of them. This is what I have found and perhaps with this attempt we can seek further exploration into the wealth of scientific and cultural heritage from the Islamic cities.
