تمثل السنة النبوية المطهرة مصدراً هاماً من مصادر الإسلام ومعيناً ثراً لأحكامه وتوجيهاته، وتبدو حاجة الأمة ماسة لها، وخاصة في هذه الأيام. وحتى تفيد الأمة من هذا المعين النبوي الثري، لابد من بذل الجهود التي تتضمن الافادة من السنة في مواجهة المشكلات المعاصرة في حياة المسلمين اليوم، ومن ذلك تقديم السنة في شرح معاصر. وتأتي هذا المساهمة ضمن الندوة العالمية للسنة المطهرة التي دأبت على عقدها كلية الدراسات العربية والإسلامية بدبي. وبينت في هذه الورقة: أهمية السنة النبوية وحاجة البشرية إليها، كما بينت الأساليب والوسائل التي يحتاج إليها هذا الشرح وأهمية الإفادة من وسائل العصر وعلومه وأدواته ومناهج البحث والتوثيق المعروفة اليوم لخدمة السنة المطهرة وتقديمها لأهل العصر بالأسلوب الذي يناسبهم ويستجيب لحاجاتهم المعاصرة، ويمكنهم من الإفادة من جهود العلماء السابقين في شروحهم. وحرصت على بيان ما يحتاج إليه الشرح الحديثي من بيان للمعنى العام للحديث، والإفادة من أسباب الـورود والوقوف على الأحكام والدروس المستفادة من الحديث، والعمل على تنزيل الحديث على الواقع، مع الإفادة من سيرة السلف في ذلك كله. وفي خاتمة البحث وقفت على الآثار المتوقعة من هذا الشرح المعاصر للسنة في حياة الأمة وفي خدمة السنة المشرفة في هذا الزمان. \
The holy Sunnah represents one of the most important sources of Islam. It constitutes a rich inventory of Islamic legislations and guidance for which the Muslim nation, nowadays, is desperately in need. Therefore, all efforts should be exerted in order to draw on this rich inventory, and thus make use of the holy Sunnah in addressing our contemporary problems. One such effort is to present a contemporary interpretation of the Sunnah. In fact, this paper, which is submitted to the Holy Sunnah International Symposium that the College of Islamic and Arabic Studies in Dubai always holds, is a humble contribution towards setting up a project whose main objective is the desired contemporary interpretation. In this paper, I have discussed the importance of Sunnah and the humanity's desperate need for a contemporary interpretation of it, the tools needed for undertaking such a project, especially modern and scientific ones, and the modern research methodologies and research documentation styles needed in order to serve the holy Sunnah, and to present it in a style that suits the present addressees and tackles their current needs while still drawing on the work of our late scholars. I have, also, been keen to make clear that a contemporary interpretation of the Sunnah has to give the general meaning of each Hadith, the causes for which, or the environment in which, it was stated, the rules and lessons learnt from it, and how it could be transferred to the present. The work of the early scholars helps in all of these tasks. In the conclusion, I could predict some of the effects of such a contemporary interpretation of the holy Sunnah not only in serving our Muslim nation, but also in serving the holy Sunnah itself \
