يتجلى أفضل تناول لأغراض الشعر لدى الشاعرين أبي فِراس الحمداني والشاعر الأندلسي السعدي الالبيري في غرض الفخر ولاسيما مظاهر الفروسية والبطولة الطاغية على أشعارهما ، وهذا البحث يشير إلى جوانب بطولية لدى الشاعرين ، وهما قد شاركا في الحروب والمعارك التي كان لها تأثيرٌ كبيرٌ في ظهور عدة الحرب ، ومعرفة أجلهما وتوقع حدوثه في الحرب ، بل وتفضيل الموت في ساحات الردى . وإعجابهما بشخصية كان لها أثر كبير في حياتهما وهما : سيف الدولة ، وسوار بن حمدون ، وقد كانا قائدين في المعارك ، فضلا عن تعرض الاثنين للسجن ، وحنين السعدي إلى والديه وزوجته ، وحنين أبي فراس إلى والدته وابنته ، ونلاحظ في شعر أبي فراس طغيان ظاهرة الأنا أكثر مما نلمسه في شعر السعدي الإلبيري الذي تجلَّى في شعره ضمير الجماعة بشكل ملفت للنظر ، وهذا يعود إلى طبيعة الشخصيتين ، وموقفهما من المجتمع أو موقف المجتمع من كلٌ منهما . فضلاً عن الحالة النفسية التي يعانيها الأديب الشاعر.
