تناول هذا البحث ، الأديب حسين مردان على غير ما عرف عنه ، واشتهر به من كونه شاعراً ومقالياً ، فحسب وإنما هو قاص شارك قصاصي جيله في كتابة القصة القصيرة في منتصف القرن الماضي ، إذ تناولت قصصه من الموضوعات المتنوعة والتي أشارت إلى مختلف الأبعاد الفنية على وفق رؤية واعية لما تكتب وتحلل ، وهي في ذلك غنية في معالجاتها ، وطرحها في تنوعها وفي موافقة تشكيلاتها الصورية ، وتحرك شخوصها داخل القصة ، ونجاح حسين مردان في طرق معالجة الحدث فيها وإن لم يغب من قصصه صدي ((العبارات)) ذات الدلالة الجنسية في معالجة الأحداث ، وقد يلجأ في بعض الأحيان إلى استعمال الكلمات العامية للتعبير عن واقع بعض شخصياته داخل القصة ؛ فضلاً عن كون حسين مردان كان ناقداً للقصة بشكل لافت للنظر ، حتى عدَّ ( منظراً ) لفن القصة ، وقد ساعده في ذلك سعة اطلاعه أثناء عمله الصحفي ، وقد أشاد النقاد ببراعة حسين مردان القصصية والنقدية مما استلزم على الباحثين العناية بهذا الجانب الإبداعي عنده والتركيز عليه
This search is dealing with the writer Hussain Mardan not just as a poet and an article writer but also story writer and critic. He participated with the writers of his time in writing and criticism the short story. In his stories, he took in consideration variant headlines according to clever vision to what writes, analyze and gets into unfamiliar end as it was known from Hussain Mardan. His stories were rich of variety and keen of images forms and events and also included statements and images of sexual revelation used in dealing with the story events. The Mardanian stories attracted the critics attention even they did not reach the decent importance comparing with other story writers.
