تهدف دراسة التركيب الاقتصادي للسكان إلى التعرف على حجم القوى العاملة والسكان الفاعلين وغير الفاعلين ، وكذلك معرفة توزيع السكان على الأنشطة الاقتصادية والمهن المختلفة. لذا فأن الدراسة تهدف من خلال التحليل العلمي إلى الكشف عن أنماط التركيب الاقتصادي في دولة قطر، والإحاطة بواقع القوى العاملة المواطنة والوافدة ومعدل نموها ونسبة مشاركة العمالة المواطنة في سوق العمل مقارنة بالعمالة الوافدة، فضلا عن التعرف على حجم البطالة ومعدلاتها ، كما تهدف الدراسة إلى الوقوف على نسبة مساهمة المرأة المواطنة والوافدة في سوق العمل وتوزيعها بحسب النشاط الاقتصادي والمهنة التي تمارسها. وأخيرا الوقوف على السمات الرئيسة للقوى العاملة المواطنة والوافدة وما هي الفروق بينهما في السمات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والديموغرافية . تنطلق هذه الدراسة من فرضية مفادها أن توزيع القوى العاملة على مستوى النشاط الاقتصادي والمهنة يتسم بالتباين وتتجلى هذه الصورة بوضوح عند التطرق إلى جنسية العاملة ( مواطنة وافدة ) . وأن السمات والديموغرافية والاجتماعية للعاملة قد ساهمت بصورة فاعلة في عملية توزيعها بحسب النشاط الاقتصادي والمهنة. وقد اعتمدت الدراسة على المنهج الجغرافي التحليلي في الوقوف على خصائص التركيب الاقتصادي، فيما تمثلت الحدود المكانية للدراسة بدولة قطر أما الحدود الزمانية لها كانت للمدة ١٩٩٧-٢٠١٠ .
The study of economic structure of the population aims to identify the size of the labor force and active and non-active population; as well as the distribution of the population on the economic activities and various professions. Therefore, the study aims, through scientific analysis, to find out the patterns of economic structure in the State of Qatar and to become acquainted with the real nature and rate of growth of manpower of both natives and comers, as well as the rate of native labor participation in the labor market compared to that of comers. It also aims to identify the size of unemployment rates. The study also aims to identify the proportion of the contribution of native and comer women in the labor market as distributed by economic activity and profession practiced, and finally grasping the main features of the workforce in its both aspects of nationals and foreigners and the differences between them in the social, economic and demographic fields. This study starts from the premise that the distribution of the workforce on the level of economic activity and the profession is different. This is reflected clearly when touching on nationality of the women labor (native or foreigner), and the social and demographic characteristics of the workforce has contributed actively in the process of distribution by economic activity and occupation. The study relied on geographic analytical method to stand on the characteristics of the economic structure, whereas the spatial limits of the study were restricted to Qatar. As for the time space of the study, it depended on census data for the year ٢٠١٠ and in the case of necessity, it was taken to back .to previous censuses
