والقصة على أنهما العنصران الأساسيان لأي عمل الفني. ستركز هذه المقالة على الفن الروائي من وجهة نظر المدرسة الشكلانية الروسية. إنها محاولة لتطبيق النظرية الشكلانية الروسية وخاصة مفهوم شكلوفسكي على رواية مرتفعات وزرينغز لقد عمد الشكلانيون على قلب المفهوم التقليدي لعلاقة المحتوى والشكل ووجدوا أن أدبية النص تكمن في شكلة وذلك نتيجة لتطور التاريخ الأدبي. تبين هذه الدراسة كيف ان الشكل الروائي لمرتفعات وزرينغ يحدد مسيرة الرواية بأكملها بما في ذلك الشخصيات والمحتوى والموضوع وحتى النقد. تبدأ المقالة بعرض مختصر لمكانة الشكل في النظرية الشكلانية الروسية ومن ثم تبين مفهوم شكلوفيسكي للسرد القصصي و الطريقة التي يختلف بها عن أرسطو. وبعدها تنتقل إلى الفكرة الأساسية لتبين وتؤكد أهمية السرد القصصي ودوره في تحديد الجانب الأدبي في الرواية. لابد لقارئ هذه المقالة أن يكون ملماً بالشكللانية الروسية وأرسطو لأنها ستمر على أفكارهم بشكل موجز ومختصر.
Traditional criticism on the narrative technique of Wuthering Heights did not go beyond the Aristotelian concept of form-content or plot-story relationship in which the content and the story are the essential elements of a work of art. This paper concentrates on the narrative technique from the Russian Formalist perspective. It is an attempt to apply Russian Formalists’ theory of a prose work, especially Shklovsky, to Wuthering Heights. The Formalists reversed the traditional form-content relationship to locate the literariness of a prose work in the form as a result of evolution in literary history. This study shows how the form of the narrative technique of Wuthering Heights determines the course of the novel, the characters, the content, the theme and even its criticism. It begins by a brief account of the place of form in Russian Formalism. Then, it proceeds to show Shklovsky’s concept of narration to contrast it with Aristotle. Finally, it moves to its main thesis to verify the importance of the narrative technique in determining the literary aspect of the novel. The reader of this paper is expected to be familiar with Russian Formalism and Aristotle because it is very brief on these points.
