In the aftermath of the collapse of the central government led by General Mohammad Siad Barre, Somalia went into a bloody period of continuous civil wars. The political scene turned to overwhelming chaos, in spite of over 14 conferences for peace and reconciliation between the disputing parties, not coming up with any efficient government. Though it seems that the country has lived under interim governments for 8 years, the truth is that they have been ruling since the beginning of the crisis in the last century's 90s. Thus, the current cabinet is facing a very hard challenge of putting an end to the transitional phase. A strong government must be formed to pave the way to the future for a people which has been longing for peace for more than 20 years.
