يتناول هذا البحث جمع أسماء النباتات من كتاب "المحيط في اللغة" للصاحب بن عباد( ٣٨٥ ه)، ومن ثم محاولة توثيقها من كتب النبات التي ألفها علماء اللغة العرب، ومعجمات اللغة التي عني أصحابها بألفاظ النبات والشجر، ولم يكن اختيارنا كتاب (المحيط في اللغة) للصاحب بن عباد (٣٨٥ ه) عشوائيا، بل كان يستند إلى دراية بنمط هذا المعجم من حيث منهجه في التأليف، وطبيعة المواد التي اشتمل عليها، فهو من المعجمات التي حرص مؤلفوها على الإحاطة والاستقصاء والشمول، من هنا جاءت تسميته إياه بالمحيط، فضلاً عن أن الصاحب لغوي كبير عرف بسعة الإطلاع، ودرايته الكبيرة باللغة، مما جعله يتفرد بذكر ألفاظ لم يذكرها غيره من المعجميين، ناهيك عن منهجه القائم على الاختصار في تقليله الشواهد إلى حد بعيد، وعدم ذكره أسماء من يروي عنهم من اللغويين؛ إن كل ما تقدم دفعنا إلى أن نجمع أسماء النباتات التي وردت في المحيط لنصنع منها معجما، وقد وسمناه (معجم أسماء النباتات في كتاب "المحيط في اللغة" للصاحب بن عباد (ت ٣٨٥ ه) جمع وتوثيق). وقد اقتصرنا على ألفاظ النبات دون الشجر؛ حتى نجعل حجم بحثنا يتلاءم مع ما يتطلبه النشر في المجلات العلمية من تحديد عدد الصفحات لكل بحث؛ لأننا لو صنعنا معجماً لكليهما لصار حجم البحث أكبر من ضعف ما هو عليه الآن. وقبل أن ننسق ألفاظ المعجم، مهدنا لها بنبذة مما ألف في النبات في تراثنا اللغوي، لتتضح أهمية المعجم الذي جمعناه. أما منهجنا في هذا البحث فقد حرصنا على أن نرتب أسماء النباتات فيه على نظام حروف المعجم، لا على النظام الصوتي الذي سار عليه الصاحب، وذلك لصعوبة الأخير، وقد راعينا الأصول اللغوية للألفاظ، نأمل أن نكون قد وفقنا في عملنا هذا ومن الله التوفيق.
The present research aims at collecting plants names from '' Al - Muheet fi Al- Lugha '' by Al –Sahib bin Abbad (385 A .H .) ,then the data documenting from the books of plants written by Arab linguists and from the dictionaries of linguistics whose authors ,paid a great attention to the names of plants and trees . the choice of ''A-Muheet fi Al-Lugha ''is not a random one , but depended on a knowledge of the patterns of this dictionary , its methodology of writing ,and the nature of its material. lt is one of the dictionaries in which the authors were comprehensive, deductive and inclusive. this is why the book is called ''Al-Muheet" (comprehensive). In addition to that , Al-Sahib was a great, wellacguainted and knowledgeable linguist who mentioned words which were not mentioned by other dictionary compilers.We, therefore , collected the names of plants mentioned in Al-Muheet in an attempt to compile a dictionary entitled as '' Dictionary of plant Names '' in '' Al- Muheet fi Al- Lugha'': collection and documentation .the dictionary is confined to names of the plants rather than trees because if we compile a dictionary for both of them the size of the work will be doubled. Before we arrange the vocabulary, we wrote a preface about what is written on plants in our linguistic tradition to show the importance of dictionary we have compiled. our methodology in this research is that we have arranged the names of plants alphabetically and not according to the phonetic system followed by Al-Sahib due to the difficalty of the latter. we have also paid attention to the origin of the vocabulary. we hope that we have accomplished a successful work.
