تختلف وسائل الاتصال بين الأفراد حسب حاجة الموقـف الاجتمـاعي وظـروف التفاعل، فأهمها اللغة سواء أكانت مسموعة أم مقروءة، ومـن ثـم الرمـوز والإشـارات الحضارية المتفق عليها. إلا إننا ندرك هنا أهمية تلك الوسائل وحاجتها في المساهمة بعمليـة الاتصال إلى تقنية أو آلية لإيصالها إلى الطرف الآخر .ومسيرة الإنسان الحـضارية حافلـة بمبتكرات ومخترعات ساهمت بشكل أو بآخر في عملية التواصل بـين الأفـراد إذ قربـت المسافات وذللت الصعاب من أجل خلق موقف اجتماعي يسمح للأفراد بالتفاعل فيما بيـنهم، ومن ثم بلورة اتجاهاتهم المختلفة، دعماً لصور الارتباط الذي يحصل بينهم. وقد شهد القـرن الماضي ثور ة معلوماتية عملاقة ساهمت في إيجاد تقنيات اتصال حديثة إذ إن كل بقاع العالم أصبحت تقترب من بعضها البعض بفضل هذه التقنيات .إذ تمركزت تقنيات الاتصال الحديث في قنوات عديدة أكثرها أهمية تتجسد بتقنية البث الفضائي وشبكة الانترنيت والهاتف النقال، مما أثرت وبشكل فعال في سلوك الأفراد، إلى حد بلورة هذا السلوك بوصفه نتيجـة لتبـدل أنماط التفاعل، ومن ثم تغيير صور العلاقات الاجتماعية، تزامناً مع الميـول والاتجاهـات الاجتماعية لدى أفراد المجتمع.
