يتناول هذا البحث بدايات الحركة الديمقراطية في منطقة الخليج العربي. واهم الظروف والعوامل التي كانت وراء انتشار الأفكار والمبادئ الديمقراطية أذ اتسمت الكيانات السياسية الحاكمة في الخليج العربي في مرحلة (ما قبل اكتشاف النفط) بتسلط شيخ القبيلة (أو الأسر الحاكمة فيما بعد) واحتكاره لمقاليد الأمور السياسية والاقتصادية نتيجة ظروف وعوامل داخلية وخارجية. شـهد الواقـع السياسـي والاجتمـاعي لمنطقـة الخلـيج العربـي تغيـًرا كبيـًرا نتيجـة عـدة عوامـل يأتي في مقدمتها تأثير النهضة العربية الحديثة وانتشار المؤسسات التعليمية والثقافية مما كـان لـه الأثـر الكبيـر فـي ظهـور دعـوات إصـلاحية تسـعى - فـي جـزء مـن أهـدافها - الـى نشـر المبـادئ والمفـاهيم الديمقراطيـة وتطبيقهـا فـي المجتمـع الخليجـي، ابتـدأت فـي الكويـت والبحـرين ودبـي. لتشكل الملامح الأولى للحياة الديمقراطية في الخليج العربي. \
This research tackles the beginning of the democratic movement in the Arab Gulf region. Moreover, it sheds light on the most important circumstances and factors behind spreading the democratic thoughts and principles. The governing political parties in the Arab Gulf were characterized ( before discovering oil ) by the domination of the tribe leader (Sheikh) (or dynasties later on) and monopolizing the political and economic key positions on account of internal and external circumstances as well as factors. In fact, the social and political reality in the Arab Gulf witnessed a great change as a result of many factors first of which the influence of the modern Arab renaissance and the spreading of the educational and cultural institutions a matter which greatly contributed to the emergence of reforming calls working , as a part of their aims , to spread the democratic principles and concepts and apply them in the Gulf societies. It began in Kuwait , Bahrain and Dubai to form the first features of the democratic life in the Arab Gulf. \
