الكيانات الرقمية (Digital objects)، هي احدى أوعية المعلومات الجديدة التي بــدأت تفرض وجودها على ساحة خزن واسترجاع المعلومات، في شكل النص والصورة والصوت والرسم والحركة بعضهم أو كلهم مجتمعين لخدمة محتوى واحد، حيث أصبحت تستمد قيمة إضافية من عدة تخصصات أخــرى كالتعليم الإلكتروني المختلط، والتعليم عن بعد، ويأتي دور المكتبة من اجل اقتناء هذه الكيانات المتجددة، وتحديد بياناتها من فهرسة وصفية وموضوعية. تهدف الدراسة الخروج بصورة واضحة عن الكيانات الرقمية وأسباب الاهتمام بها واستشراف المستقبل لها.
"Digital Objects" are a new form of presenting information, spreading all over and prove to have a great value. For that storage and retrieval of digital objects became important. It is a value add concepts and involve different subject disciplinary as E-teaching and distance learning , "digital objects is spreading all over the globe related to the development of the Internet and the programming technology , Web design and communication application .in all that explosure the role of library is acquired to organize "Digital objects" and identify descriptive and subject cataloging . "Digital objects" is relativly old and self sustain, depending complitly on new technology. Many people working in teaching subjects area use "Digital Objects" which became a special form of information in helping introduce and simplify ideas for the recipient. Therefore it becomes essential to write about "Digital objects" and conduct researches in Arabic language. This paper intend to draw a clear picture about the value of "Digital objects" in Library science literature and try to identify the near future form such forms playing a good role in the teaching process also the paper is taking in consideration the mass development in communication technology, and try to answer some questions as could the digital object be a real threat for academic organizations? and if so what is the possibility to stop happening such threat?
